Artist Statement

Nature is deeply ingrained in my own sense of being; hence, botanic drawings and landscapes were a natural beginning. As I progress I have gravitated toward more abstract interpretive pieces still motivated by nature, but also influenced by events or emotions and at times social issues.

I feel this new direction into abstract has strengthened my art and given it a sense of purpose. I concentrate on organic shapes and fluid forms which flow about the painting creating a sense of rhythm. Eventually the forms solidify into an idea with the visual and emotional journey expressing my interpretation of the world around me and perhaps providing a metaphorical representation of my thoughts.
